Increase Your Knowledge

  • Two weeks before you return to work, pump or express once a day when you feel the fullest (morning is best).
  • The first few times you pump, you may only see enough milk to cover the bottom of the collection container.
  • To maintain / increase your milk supply, pump as often as your baby would nurse ( at least every 3-4 hours).

Store breastmilk in a clean, closed and dated container.


Storage Rule of 5's

          Cool Room for up to 5 hours

          Refrigerator for up to 5 days

          Freezer for up to 5 months

          Chest freezer for 5 months to a year


Thawing Breastmilk 

         Thaw breastmilk in refrigerator for a few hours.  Need it a lot faster than that?  Place unopened container of breastmilk in warm water.
